  • The story of Postcard Cabins began when founder and CEO Jon Staff, at 25, sought a simpler life after the demands of a fast-paced startup job. Inspired by his time living in a 26-foot Airstream while traveling the American West, Jon realized that others needed a way to escape, recharge, and unplug in nature. In the summer of 2015, Jon and his college friend Pete Davis launched what was initially known as Getaway. The first cabin, Ovida, opened in southern New Hampshire outside Boston, quickly gaining popularity. By April 2016, with significant press coverage and investor support, Postcard Cabins expanded to a second location in New York. Growing demand led to further expansion, and today, Postcard Cabins operates near major cities across the United States. Jon continues to apply the lessons learned during his journey, advocating for better work-life balance through time spent in nature, improving relationships, job performance, and enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures.

Postcard Cabins makes nature accessible with 29 locations, all within a two-hour drive of major U.S. cities. Each site is situated on expansive private woodlands, offering a perfect balance of privacy and community. Guests are invited to reconnect with nature, find free time, and create meaningful experiences away from the pressures of daily life.

The custom-built tiny cabins, ranging from 140 to 200 square feet, are designed to integrate natural elements like wood, metal, and glass. Eastern White Pine is featured throughout, creating a seamless transition between the interior and the outdoors. Each cabin includes a large picture window thoughtfully positioned for stunning natural views and is uniquely named after the grandparents of Postcard Cabins team members and guests.

Cabins are equipped with everything needed for a simple, comfortable getaway, including a queen bed or queen bunks, linens, a two-burner stove, mini-fridge, sink, toilet, and hot shower with provided shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Heat and air conditioning ensure comfort year-round. Outside, each cabin features a fire pit with a grilling grate and a seating area for relaxing evenings. Guests also have access to cookware, silverware, dishware, and a mini-library. To encourage disconnection, a cell phone lockbox is provided, while a landline ensures safety in areas with limited cell service. Dogs are welcome for a $50 fee per booking, with amenities such as dog bowls, treats, waste bags, and an outdoor lead.

To further enhance the experience, Outdoor Suites are available at select locations, including Talladega Valley, Eastern Catskills, Machimoodus, Shenandoah, and Starved Rock. These expanded outdoor areas feature a hammock, chef’s station, and string lights for added comfort. Guests can also opt for early check-in or late check-out to extend their time in nature.
