Postcard Cabins began when Jon Staff, the founder and CEO, sought a reprieve from the fast-paced startup world at 25. Feeling burned out, he took to the road in a 26-foot Airstream across the American West. During this journey, Jon discovered a deep need for spaces where people could disconnect, recharge, and reconnect with nature. Realizing others likely shared this desire, Jon teamed up with college friend Pete Davis in 2015 to launch what was initially called Getaway. Their first cabin, Ovida, opened in southern New Hampshire near Boston and quickly became a success. By 2016, the company expanded with a second Outpost in New York, buoyed by media attention and investor support. Today, Postcard Cabins operates a growing network of peaceful retreats within two hours of major U.S. cities, offering the perfect blend of seclusion and connection with nature. Jon’s journey remains the foundation of the company, promoting work-life balance, fostering stronger relationships, and encouraging the enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures.
Now a leading outdoor accommodation provider, Postcard Cabins operates 29 locations, offering urban dwellers the chance to escape to private, tranquil woodlands. The thoughtfully designed cabins, ranging from 140 to 200 square feet, feature natural materials like wood, glass, and metal. Eastern White Pine creates a cozy interior that blends seamlessly with the natural surroundings. Large picture windows offer stunning views of sunrises, starry skies, and peaceful landscapes. Each cabin is uniquely named after the grandparents of team members and guests, adding a personal touch.
Inside each cabin, guests will find a queen bed or bunks, linens, a two-burner stove, mini-fridge, sink, toilet, and a hot shower with essential toiletries. Climate control ensures year-round comfort, while outdoor amenities like a fire pit, grilling grate, and seating enhance the experience. Cookware, silverware, dishware, and a mini-library are included, and guests are encouraged to unplug with a cell phone lockbox. Dogs are welcome for a $50 fee, with dog bowls, treats, waste bags, and an outdoor lead provided. Each cabin also includes a landline for emergencies, offering peace of mind in areas with limited cell service.
For those seeking an elevated experience, Postcard Cabins offers Outdoor Suites at select locations like Talladega Valley, Eastern Catskills, Machimoodus, Shenandoah, and Starved Rock. These feature spacious outdoor areas with hammocks, chef’s stations, and string lights. Flexible options for early check-in or late check-out are also available, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in nature.
