Postcard Cabins was founded by Jon Staff, who, at 25, sought respite from the relentless pressures of his fast-paced startup career. During a transformative journey across the American West in a 26-foot Airstream, Jon experienced the profound rejuvenation that comes from unplugging and reconnecting with nature. Inspired to share this life-changing experience, Jon teamed up with his college friend Pete Davis to launch the company in 2015. Originally named Getaway, their first cabin, Ovida, opened in southern New Hampshire near Boston, quickly becoming a sanctuary for those seeking peace. By 2016, the company expanded to New York and rebranded as Postcard Cabins, embodying its mission to provide tranquil, nature-focused retreats. Today, Postcard Cabins spans the U.S., helping guests rediscover balance and the joy of simpler living.
Postcard Cabins is now a leader in outdoor accommodations, with 29 Outposts nationwide, each thoughtfully located within a two-hour drive of major cities. These private woodland retreats seamlessly blend solitude with the restorative power of nature.
The cabins, custom-designed and ranging from 140 to 200 square feet, are crafted with natural materials like wood, metal, and glass. Inside, warm Eastern White Pine interiors and expansive picture windows invite guests to take in stunning views of sunrises, starlit skies, and serene landscapes. Each cabin is uniquely named after the grandparents of team members or guests, adding a personal, nostalgic touch.
Focused on simplicity and comfort, the cabins come equipped with cozy queen or bunk beds dressed in soft linens, a two-burner stove, mini-fridge, sink, toilet, and hot shower stocked with eco-friendly toiletries. Climate control ensures year-round comfort. Outdoor amenities include a fire pit with a grilling grate, seating, cookware, dishware, and a curated mini-library, offering everything guests need for a rejuvenating escape. Guests are encouraged to unplug with a provided cell phone lockbox, and pet-friendly cabins include thoughtful extras like dog bowls, treats, waste bags, and outdoor leads for a $50 fee. Landlines are available in remote areas to ensure guest safety.
For an elevated experience, select Outposts like Talladega Valley, Eastern Catskills, Machimoodus, Shenandoah, and Starved Rock feature premium Outdoor Suites. These upgraded retreats include hammocks, chef’s stations, and string lights, blending luxury with nature. Flexible early check-in and late check-out options let guests maximize their time in nature, making each stay an unforgettable escape into tranquility.
