Postcard Cabins was founded by Jon Staff at 25, seeking relief from the high demands of his startup career. On a transformative road trip across the American West in a 26-foot Airstream, Jon discovered the healing power of unplugging and reconnecting with nature. Inspired to share this life-changing experience, Jon joined forces with his college friend Pete Davis to launch the company in 2015. Initially called Getaway, their first cabin, Ovida, opened near Boston in southern New Hampshire, becoming a refuge for those seeking peace. By 2016, the company expanded to New York and rebranded as Postcard Cabins, solidifying its mission of providing tranquil, nature-focused retreats. Today, Postcard Cabins spans the U.S., offering guests a chance to rediscover balance and enjoy the simpler joys of life.
Now a leader in outdoor accommodations, Postcard Cabins has 29 Outposts across the country, each strategically placed within a two-hour drive of major cities. These private woodland retreats offer the perfect balance of solitude and the rejuvenating energy of nature.
Custom-designed cabins, ranging from 140 to 200 square feet, are built with natural materials like wood, metal, and glass. Inside, warm Eastern White Pine and expansive picture windows invite guests to take in breathtaking views of sunrises, starry skies, and tranquil landscapes. Each cabin is uniquely named after the grandparents of team members or guests, adding a meaningful, nostalgic touch.
The cabins emphasize simplicity and comfort, featuring cozy queen or bunk beds with soft linens, a two-burner stove, mini-fridge, sink, toilet, and hot shower stocked with eco-friendly toiletries. Climate control ensures comfort year-round, while outdoor amenities like a fire pit with a grilling grate, seating, cookware, dishware, and a curated mini-library complete the experience. A provided cell phone lockbox encourages guests to unplug, and pet-friendly cabins come with dog bowls, treats, waste bags, and outdoor leads for a $50 fee. In remote areas, landlines are available for added safety.
For an enhanced retreat, select Outposts such as Talladega Valley, Eastern Catskills, Machimoodus, Shenandoah, and Starved Rock offer upgraded Outdoor Suites. These luxurious retreats include hammocks, chef’s stations, and string lights, elevating the outdoor experience. Flexible early check-in and late check-out options ensure guests can maximize their time in nature, creating an unforgettable escape into tranquility.
