The journey of Postcard Cabins began when founder and CEO Jon Staff, at just 25 years old, sought refuge from the relentless pressures of his high-stress startup career. On a transformative road trip across the American West in a 26-foot Airstream, Jon experienced the revitalizing power of unplugging, recharging, and reconnecting with nature. Moved to share this renewal with others, Jon partnered with his college friend Pete Davis to launch the company in 2015. Initially named Getaway, their first cabin, Ovida, opened in southern New Hampshire near Boston and quickly resonated with guests seeking peace in nature. By 2016, buoyed by media acclaim and investor backing, the company expanded to New York and rebranded as Postcard Cabins to better reflect its mission of providing serene, nature-focused retreats. Today, Postcard Cabins operates nationwide, offering tranquil escapes where guests can rediscover balance and embrace life’s simpler joys.
Postcard Cabins has emerged as a leader in outdoor accommodations, with 29 Outposts across the U.S. Each location is strategically situated within a two-hour drive of major cities, offering private woodland retreats that blend solitude with the restorative beauty of nature.
Custom-designed cabins, ranging from 140 to 200 square feet, are thoughtfully constructed using natural materials like wood, metal, and glass. Interiors feature warm Eastern White Pine and expansive picture windows, inviting guests to take in breathtaking views of sunrises, starry skies, and serene landscapes. Each cabin carries a personal touch, named in honor of the grandparents of team members and guests.
Designed for simplicity and comfort, the cabins include queen or bunk beds with cozy linens, a two-burner stove, mini-fridge, sink, toilet, and a hot shower stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Climate control ensures year-round comfort. Outdoor amenities, such as a fire pit with a grilling grate, seating, cookware, dishware, and a curated mini-library, enhance the experience. Guests are encouraged to unplug with a provided cell phone lockbox, while pet-friendly cabins offer extras like dog bowls, treats, waste bags, and outdoor leads for a $50 fee. Landlines are available in areas with limited cell service for added safety.
For a premium experience, select Outposts—including Talladega Valley, Eastern Catskills, Machimoodus, Shenandoah, and Starved Rock—offer upgraded Outdoor Suites. These feature hammocks, chef’s stations, and string lights, providing a luxurious touch to the retreat. Flexible early check-in and late check-out options give guests more time to unwind and savor the natural surroundings, ensuring every stay is a refreshing escape into nature’s embrace.
