  • Postcard Cabins was founded by Jon Staff, who, at 25, sought a reprieve from the relentless demands of his fast-paced startup career. A transformative journey across the American West in a 26-foot Airstream revealed the profound rejuvenation that comes from unplugging and reconnecting with nature. Inspired to share this experience, Jon teamed up with his college friend Pete Davis to launch the company in 2015. Initially named Getaway, their first cabin, Ovida, opened near Boston in southern New Hampshire and quickly became a haven for those seeking peace in nature. By 2016, the company expanded to New York, rebranding as Postcard Cabins to reflect its mission of offering tranquil, nature-focused retreats. Today, Postcard Cabins spans the U.S., helping guests rediscover balance and embrace life’s simpler pleasures.

Now a leader in outdoor accommodations, Postcard Cabins offers 29 Outposts across the country, each thoughtfully situated within a two-hour drive of major cities. These private woodland retreats seamlessly blend solitude with the restorative power of nature.

Crafted from natural materials like wood, metal, and glass, the custom-built cabins range from 140 to 200 square feet. Interiors feature warm Eastern White Pine and large picture windows that frame breathtaking views of sunrises, starlit skies, and serene landscapes. Adding a personal touch, each cabin is named after the grandparents of team members or guests.

Designed for simplicity and comfort, the cabins are equipped with queen or bunk beds dressed in cozy linens, a two-burner stove, mini-fridge, sink, toilet, and hot shower stocked with toiletries. Climate control ensures a comfortable stay year-round. Outdoor amenities, including a fire pit with grilling grate, seating, cookware, dishware, and a curated mini-library, enhance the guest experience. A cell phone lockbox encourages unplugging, while pet-friendly cabins include dog bowls, treats, waste bags, and outdoor leads for a $50 fee. In remote areas, landlines are available for added safety.

For a premium experience, select Outposts such as Talladega Valley, Eastern Catskills, Machimoodus, Shenandoah, and Starved Rock feature Outdoor Suites with hammocks, chef’s stations, and string lights. Flexible early check-in and late check-out options ensure guests have ample time to savor the natural surroundings, making every stay a restorative escape into nature’s tranquility.
