Postcard Cabins began with Jon Staff, who, at 25, sought a reprieve from the pressures of his fast-paced startup career. A transformative road trip across the American West in a 26-foot Airstream revealed the rejuvenating power of unplugging and reconnecting with nature. Inspired to share this restorative experience, Jon partnered with his college friend Pete Davis to launch the company in 2015. Originally named Getaway, their first cabin, Ovida, opened in southern New Hampshire near Boston, offering a peaceful escape for those seeking solace. By 2016, the company expanded to New York and rebranded as Postcard Cabins, solidifying its mission to provide serene, nature-focused retreats. Today, Postcard Cabins spans the U.S., helping guests rediscover balance and embrace the joy of simple living.
As a pioneer in outdoor accommodations, Postcard Cabins operates 29 Outposts nationwide, each conveniently located within a two-hour drive of major cities. These secluded woodland retreats offer an ideal combination of solitude and the restorative beauty of nature.
Each custom-designed cabin, ranging from 140 to 200 square feet, is crafted using natural materials like wood, metal, and glass. Warm interiors of Eastern White Pine and expansive picture windows frame breathtaking views of sunrises, star-filled skies, and serene landscapes. Unique cabin names honor the grandparents of team members or guests, adding a heartfelt, nostalgic connection.
Designed for simplicity and comfort, the cabins feature plush queen or bunk beds, soft linens, a two-burner stove, mini-fridge, sink, toilet, and a hot shower stocked with eco-friendly toiletries. Year-round climate control ensures a cozy stay. Outdoor amenities, including a fire pit with a grilling grate, seating, cookware, dishware, and a curated mini-library, enhance the experience. Guests are encouraged to unplug with provided cell phone lockboxes, while pet-friendly cabins offer thoughtful touches like dog bowls, treats, waste bags, and outdoor leads for a $50 fee. Landlines in remote areas provide added peace of mind.
For an elevated experience, select Outposts—such as Talladega Valley, Eastern Catskills, Machimoodus, Shenandoah, and Starved Rock—offer upgraded Outdoor Suites. These premium retreats include hammocks, chef’s stations, and string lights, creating a luxurious yet natural ambiance. Flexible check-in and check-out options ensure guests can fully savor their time in nature, making every stay an unforgettable journey into tranquility.
