K5, located in the bustling city of Tokyo, is a captivating hotel that offers an unforgettable experience to its guests. With a total of twenty guest rooms ranging in size from 20 to 80 square meters, the hotel aims to create a harmonious fusion between urban living and nature's beauty. Every aspect of K5 has been meticulously designed to stimulate the senses and provide a sanctuary of high-quality simplicity.

The interior and product design of the hotel is the brainchild of CLAESSON KOIVISTO RUNE, a renowned design partnership based in Stockholm. Comprising three talented architects, this team has brought their expertise to Tokyo, infusing the hotel with their unique artistic vision. Their collaboration has resulted in a remarkable blend of Scandinavian elegance and Japanese aesthetics.

At K5, guests are invited to embark on a culinary journey at Kabi, a vibrant restaurant located in the trendy neighborhood of Meguro. Celebrating the diverse cultures of Japan, France, and Denmark, Kabi breaks free from the confines of national borders by offering a boundless array of cuisines. Accompanying these delectable dishes are natural wines and beers, creating a truly immersive dining experience.

For coffee enthusiasts, K5 proudly hosts the third branch of SWITCH COFFEE, a beloved coffee shop in Meguro, Yoyogi Hachiman, and now Kabutocho. From classic espresso to velvety cafe lattes and single-origin drip brews, guests can savor the rich flavors of carefully crafted beverages throughout the day and into the night.

Within the confines of K5, there exists a unique space that seamlessly blends a library and a bar. Reflecting the spirit of Kabutocho, a district where globalization and capitalism thrived in Japan, this salon pays homage to that era. Bookshelves, strategically arranged to represent the layers of Kabutocho, Tokyo, and Japan, offer guests a glimpse into the world of Eiichi Shibusawa, known as the "Father of Japanese Capitalism." Here, visitors can enjoy cocktails infused with tea and Chinese medicine, expanding their exploration of Asian flavors beyond Japan.

Adding to its allure, K5 boasts the world's first flagship store of the renowned Brooklyn Brewery. This extraordinary space invites guests to indulge in a wide selection of Brooklyn Brewery beers while partaking in a variety of events held within its walls. Housed within a beautifully transformed 1920s bank, the architects have ingeniously crafted twenty generously sized rooms, each thoughtfully designed to blur the boundaries between art and architecture.

CLAESSON KOIVISTO RUNE's masterful renovation of the K5 structure showcases a profound respect for its original appearance and features. One of the notable achievements was the transformation of the parking structure behind the building into a positive and appealing space. The hotel's windows, adorned with colored and patterned glass, capture external lights in a mesmerizing manner, creating an amorphous interior glow that captivates guests.

Embracing a seamless fusion of traditional and contemporary elements, K5 showcases custom furniture by ADX, Time & Style, and Alloy, seamlessly blending with traditional materials such as cedar and Japanese stucco. Local craftsmen have meticulously produced wooden built-ins, dining tables, and stools, imbuing the hotel with a sense of local authenticity. Traditional Japanese painting techniques have been employed to grace the walls and ceilings, creating an ambiance that is both refined and inviting.

Despite its strong ties to Japanese craftsmanship, K5 exudes a Scandinavian flair, thanks in part to the involvement of Swedish designer Ola Rune. With many items custom-designed by CLAESSON KOIVISTO RUNE, the hotel manages to strike a delicate balance between cultural influences, resulting in a truly enchanting and harmonious atmosphere.
