Postcard Cabins was founded in 2015 by Jon Staff, who sought an escape from the relentless pace of startup life. A life-changing road trip in a 26-foot Airstream inspired Jon to create spaces where people could disconnect and reconnect with nature. Partnering with college friend Pete Davis, they opened their first cabin, Ovida, in southern New Hampshire. The idea resonated deeply, leading to a second location in New York and a rebrand to Postcard Cabins by 2016. Today, the company offers serene getaways just two hours from major cities.
With 29 Outposts, Postcard Cabins provides private woodland retreats that embrace simplicity and the beauty of nature. Cabins, ranging from 140 to 200 square feet, are crafted with wood, glass, and metal, creating a warm and organic ambiance. Expansive windows frame breathtaking views of sunrises, starry nights, and tranquil landscapes. Adding a personal touch, each cabin is named after the grandparents of team members and guests.
Designed for comfort and convenience, the cabins include queen or bunk beds, linens, a two-burner stove, mini-fridge, sink, toilet, and a hot shower with essential toiletries. Climate control ensures year-round comfort, while outdoor amenities like fire pits, grilling grates, and seating encourage stargazing and relaxation. Guests can unplug with a cell phone lockbox and enjoy extras like cookware, dishware, and a curated mini-library. Pet-friendly options include dog bowls, treats, and waste bags, ensuring every member of the family is welcome.
Select locations, including Talladega Valley, Eastern Catskills, Machimoodus, Shenandoah, and Starved Rock, feature upgraded Outdoor Suites. These include expanded outdoor spaces with hammocks, chef’s stations, and string lights for an elevated retreat experience. Flexible early check-in and late check-out options allow guests to fully savor their time in nature, making every stay at Postcard Cabins a restorative escape.
