Postcard Cabins began in 2015 when Jon Staff sought a retreat from the fast-paced startup world. A transformative journey in a 26-foot Airstream inspired him to create spaces where people could truly disconnect and reconnect with nature. Partnering with college friend Pete Davis, they opened their first cabin, Ovida, in southern New Hampshire. The concept quickly gained popularity, leading to a second location in New York and a rebrand to Postcard Cabins by 2016. Today, the company offers peaceful getaways just two hours from major cities.
Now with 29 Outposts, Postcard Cabins provides private woodland retreats designed for simplicity and natural beauty. Ranging from 140 to 200 square feet, the cabins are built with wood, glass, and metal, creating a cozy and organic atmosphere. Large windows frame stunning views of sunrises, starry skies, and serene landscapes. Each cabin is uniquely named after the grandparents of team members and guests, adding a personal touch.
Every cabin is thoughtfully equipped for comfort, featuring queen or bunk beds, linens, a two-burner stove, mini-fridge, sink, toilet, and a hot shower stocked with essential toiletries. Climate control ensures comfort year-round, while outdoor amenities like fire pits, grilling grates, and seating invite relaxation under the stars. Guests can unplug using the provided cell phone lockbox and enjoy conveniences like cookware, dishware, and a curated mini-library. Pet-friendly options include amenities like dog bowls, treats, and waste bags, ensuring a welcoming experience for furry companions.
Select Outposts, such as Talladega Valley, Eastern Catskills, Machimoodus, Shenandoah, and Starved Rock, offer upgraded Outdoor Suites. These feature enhanced outdoor areas with hammocks, chef’s stations, and string lights, creating an elevated retreat experience. With flexible early check-in and late check-out options, Postcard Cabins ensures guests have ample time to unwind and immerse themselves in nature, making each stay a truly restorative escape.
