  • The story of Postcard Cabins began when Jon Staff, a young entrepreneur, sought relief from the fast-paced startup world. At 25, burned out and craving simplicity, he embarked on a journey in a 26-foot Airstream, traveling through the American West. During this time, Jon realized the need for retreats where people could unplug, recharge, and reconnect with nature. Inspired by his experiences, Jon and his college friend Pete Davis launched what was initially called Getaway in 2015. Their first cabin, Ovida, opened near Boston in southern New Hampshire and quickly gained popularity. By April 2016, with media buzz and investor backing, the company expanded to a second location in New York. Now known as Postcard Cabins, the brand continues to grow, offering serene retreats near major U.S. cities.

Postcard Cabins currently operates 29 outposts, all within a two-hour drive from urban centers, providing an ideal balance of seclusion and community. Nestled in private woodlands, each location is perfect for those seeking to reconnect with nature, loved ones, and themselves. The cabins, ranging from 140 to 200 square feet, are designed using natural materials such as wood, metal, and glass, with Eastern White Pine interiors that create a cozy, organic ambiance. Large windows invite guests to enjoy views of sunrises, starry skies, and peaceful landscapes. Every cabin is uniquely named after the grandparents of team members and guests, adding a personal touch to each stay.

The cabins are designed for simplicity and comfort, with queen beds or bunks, fresh linens, a two-burner stove, mini-fridge, sink, toilet, and a hot shower stocked with essential toiletries. Climate control ensures year-round comfort, while outdoor fire pits and seating provide the perfect setting for stargazing and relaxation. Each cabin comes with cookware, dishware, and a curated mini-library, and features a phone lockbox to encourage a digital detox. Pets are welcome for a $50 fee, with amenities such as bowls, treats, and waste bags provided. In areas with limited cell service, landlines are available for emergencies, offering peace of mind.

Several outposts, including Talladega Valley, Eastern Catskills, Machimoodus, Shenandoah, and Starved Rock, offer enhanced Outdoor Suites. These spacious setups include hammocks, chef’s stations, and string lights, offering an elevated experience. Guests can also customize their stay with options for early check-in or late check-out, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in nature.
