  • The story of Postcard Cabins began with Jon Staff, a young entrepreneur who, at 25, sought a reprieve from the relentless pace of startup life. Burned out and yearning for simplicity, Jon took to the road in a 26-foot Airstream, exploring the American West. Along the way, he discovered a deep need for spaces where people could escape, recharge, and reconnect with nature. Inspired by this journey, Jon teamed up with his college friend Pete Davis in the summer of 2015 to launch what was initially called Getaway. Their first cabin, Ovida, opened near Boston in southern New Hampshire and quickly gained traction. By April 2016, bolstered by media buzz and investor interest, the company expanded to its second location in New York. Today, under the name Postcard Cabins, the brand offers a growing network of serene escapes near major U.S. cities.

Currently, Postcard Cabins operates 29 thoughtfully designed outposts, each within a two-hour drive of urban centers. Nestled in private woodlands, these retreats provide the perfect blend of seclusion and community, ideal for those seeking deeper connections with nature, loved ones, and themselves. The custom-built tiny cabins, ranging from 140 to 200 square feet, are crafted with natural materials like wood, metal, and glass. Eastern White Pine interiors create a cozy and organic ambiance, while expansive windows frame views of sunrises, starry skies, and tranquil landscapes. Each cabin carries a unique name, paying homage to the grandparents of team members and guests, adding a personal touch to every stay.

Designed for simplicity and comfort, the cabins feature queen beds or bunks, fresh linens, a two-burner stove, mini-fridge, sink, toilet, and a hot shower stocked with essential toiletries. Climate control ensures year-round coziness, while outdoor fire pits and seating invite relaxation under the stars. Guests can also access cookware, dishware, and a curated mini-library. Encouraging a true digital detox, every cabin includes a lockbox for phones. For pet lovers, dogs are welcome for a $50 fee, with amenities like bowls, treats, and waste bags provided. In areas with limited cell service, landlines are available for emergencies, offering added peace of mind.

Several outposts, such as those in Talladega Valley, Eastern Catskills, Machimoodus, Shenandoah, and Starved Rock, offer enhanced Outdoor Suites. These include spacious setups with hammocks, chef’s stations, and string lights, creating a truly elevated experience. Guests can further customize their stay with early check-in or late check-out options, ensuring they fully savor their time immersed in nature.
