  • The journey of Postcard Cabins began with founder and CEO Jon Staff, who, at 25, sought an escape from the relentless pressures of his startup career. A transformative road trip across the American West in a 26-foot Airstream revealed the profound need for moments of unplugging, recharging, and reconnecting with nature. Inspired by his experience, Jon joined forces with his college friend Pete Davis to launch the company in 2015. Originally called Getaway, their first cabin, Ovida, opened near Boston in southern New Hampshire and resonated deeply with guests. By 2016, with growing media attention and investor support, the company expanded to New York and adopted the name Postcard Cabins to better reflect its mission of providing tranquil, nature-centered retreats. Today, Postcard Cabins offers serene escapes nationwide, helping guests rediscover balance and appreciate life's simpler moments.

Now a leader in outdoor accommodations, Postcard Cabins operates 29 Outposts across the U.S., each located within a two-hour drive of major cities. These private woodland retreats offer a harmonious blend of solitude and community, fostering meaningful connections in nature.

The cabins, ranging from 140 to 200 square feet, are crafted with natural materials like wood, metal, and glass, with Eastern White Pine interiors creating a warm, inviting ambiance. Expansive picture windows frame breathtaking views of sunrises, starry nights, and serene landscapes. Adding a personal touch, each cabin is named after the grandparents of team members or guests.

Designed for comfort and simplicity, the cabins include queen or bunk beds, soft linens, a two-burner stove, mini-fridge, sink, toilet, and a hot shower stocked with essential toiletries. Climate control ensures year-round comfort, while outdoor features like fire pits with grilling grates and seating invite relaxation under the stars. Thoughtful extras such as cookware, dishware, and a curated mini-library enhance the experience. A cell phone lockbox encourages guests to unplug, while pet-friendly options include amenities like dog bowls, treats, waste bags, and outdoor leads for a $50 fee. For added safety, landlines are available in areas with limited cell service.

At select Outposts—including Talladega Valley, Eastern Catskills, Machimoodus, Shenandoah, and Starved Rock—guests can enjoy upgraded Outdoor Suites, featuring hammocks, chef’s stations, and string lights for a truly elevated retreat. Flexible early check-in and late check-out options allow guests to make the most of their stay, ensuring a restorative and unforgettable experience with every visit.
