The journey of Postcard Cabins began with founder and CEO Jon Staff, who, at just 25 years old, sought refuge from the relentless demands of his high-stress startup career. A life-changing road trip across the American West in a 26-foot Airstream introduced him to the transformative power of unplugging, recharging, and reconnecting with nature. Driven to share this experience, Jon partnered with his college friend Pete Davis to launch the company in 2015. Originally called Getaway, the first cabin, Ovida, opened in southern New Hampshire near Boston, capturing the hearts of guests seeking solace in nature. By 2016, bolstered by widespread media acclaim and investor support, the company expanded to New York and rebranded as Postcard Cabins to better reflect its mission of offering peaceful, nature-focused escapes. Today, Postcard Cabins operates nationwide, providing serene retreats that help guests reconnect with life's simpler joys.
Postcard Cabins has become a leading name in outdoor accommodations, offering 29 Outposts across the United States. Each location is carefully chosen within a two-hour drive of major cities, providing private woodland retreats that perfectly balance solitude with the restorative power of nature.
Ranging from 140 to 200 square feet, the custom-built cabins are crafted from natural materials such as wood, metal, and glass. Interiors feature warm Eastern White Pine and expansive picture windows that frame breathtaking views of sunrises, starlit skies, and tranquil landscapes. Adding a personal touch, each cabin is uniquely named after the grandparents of team members and guests.
Every cabin is designed with simplicity and comfort in mind, featuring queen or bunk beds with plush linens, a two-burner stove, mini-fridge, sink, toilet, and a hot shower stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Climate control ensures comfort year-round. Outdoor amenities include a fire pit with a grilling grate, seating, and thoughtful extras like cookware, dishware, and a curated mini-library. Guests are encouraged to fully disconnect using a provided cell phone lockbox, while pet-friendly cabins offer amenities such as dog bowls, treats, waste bags, and outdoor leads for a $50 fee. Landlines are also available in areas with limited cell service for added safety.
For an elevated experience, select Outposts—such as Talladega Valley, Eastern Catskills, Machimoodus, Shenandoah, and Starved Rock—offer upgraded Outdoor Suites. These expanded outdoor areas feature hammocks, chef’s stations, and string lights, providing a luxurious touch to the retreat. Flexible early check-in and late check-out options allow guests more time to unwind and enjoy the serene surroundings, ensuring every stay is a restorative escape into the beauty of nature.
