Postcard Cabins began with founder and CEO Jon Staff, who, at 25, sought relief from the pressures of his startup career. A transformative road trip across the American West in a 26-foot Airstream revealed the healing power of unplugging and reconnecting with nature. Inspired to share this experience, Jon partnered with his college friend Pete Davis to create the company in 2015. Initially called Getaway, their first cabin, Ovida, opened near Boston in southern New Hampshire, quickly becoming a sanctuary for those seeking peace in nature. By 2016, the company expanded to New York, rebranding as Postcard Cabins to better reflect its mission of offering tranquil, nature-driven retreats. Today, Postcard Cabins operates across the U.S., helping guests reconnect with life’s simpler joys.
As a leader in outdoor accommodations, Postcard Cabins has 29 Outposts across the U.S., all located within a two-hour drive of major cities. Each private woodland retreat strikes the perfect balance between solitude and the rejuvenating power of nature.
The custom-built cabins, ranging from 140 to 200 square feet, are crafted from natural materials like wood, metal, and glass. Inside, Eastern White Pine and expansive picture windows invite guests to take in sweeping views of sunrises, starry nights, and serene landscapes. Each cabin is uniquely named after the grandparents of team members or guests, adding a personal touch.
Designed for simplicity and comfort, the cabins include queen or bunk beds with cozy linens, a two-burner stove, mini-fridge, sink, toilet, and hot shower stocked with toiletries. Climate control ensures comfort year-round. Outdoor amenities like a fire pit with grilling grate, seating, cookware, dishware, and a mini-library complete the experience. A provided cell phone lockbox encourages guests to unplug, and pet-friendly cabins include dog bowls, treats, waste bags, and outdoor leads for a $50 fee. In areas with limited cell service, landlines are available for added safety.
For an upgraded experience, select Outposts, such as Talladega Valley, Eastern Catskills, Machimoodus, Shenandoah, and Starved Rock, feature Outdoor Suites with hammocks, chef’s stations, and string lights. Flexible early check-in and late check-out options allow guests to maximize their time in nature, ensuring every stay is a restorative and relaxing escape.
